These fun and typically Swedish wooden horses are made by two lesser-known but particularly talented craftsmen in Holmestad, a small village in Sweden.
The more than eighty-year-old Karl-Erik cuts, scrapes and sands every horse with a lot of patience and attention, after which Maud Stiller (58) paints and signs them by hand according to his own motive.
The Holmestad horse (Holmestadhäst) can be called the little brother of the Dala horse (Dalahäst). This Swedish horse is less known but has that little extra in design and beauty.
No mass production but an honest product made with a lot of love and craftsmanship.
Great as a gift for yourself or someone else!

These horses are lovely – I first bought the red one, then the white, the yellow, and now the blue. It has been a pleasure to purchase from Katrien, and I will be keeping an eye on her site from now on. With thanks and best wishes.

Dalarna horses you see very regularly on the internet for sale. Holmestadhorses, on the other hand, I saw with Katrien for the first time. I was immediately in love with it. The services is exceptionally good. You will be kept informed of the process. Because my ordered horse turned out not to be in stock (exceptional circumstances), Katrien just kept me informed so that you as a consumer have complete confidence in your order.
In short, a must for me. After I had the blue Holmestad horse in my possession, a red one was added, they are so nice!

I rarely buy online. I miss the experience and the personal contact. But with Katrien from Touch of Sweden, the ordering process from the first moment was a party. The horses in the beautiful blue color are an endearing piece of jewelry. Head, ears and legs are more elegantly designed than most peers. Katrien always kept in touch with me during the duration of the order. That felt good and familiar. As if I had bought something from a friend.
The horse was delivered at the announced moment, was well and carefully packaged and provided with a personal greeting. This horse, made with craftsmanship and love, is a delight to receive, to see and to give as a gift. Highly recommended that deserves five stars! Thank you Katrien! Do you want to convey my thanks to Karl-Erik and to Maud? You have delivered an excellent co-production. Kind regards from Rotterdam. Marjolijn van Prooijen

There were other similar horses available in Sweden and even at the airport, but I am so happy that I had not yet approved and bought them satisfactorily! When I came home from Sweden I came across Katrien's webshop and I was immediately in love with this version, especially when I read by whom and where these specific wooden horses are made. I ordered it immediately and received it (very quickly!) In a nice package! I found the handwritten personal card to be very special! The wooden horse is now showing off on my desk and reminds me every day of that special journey I made with blogger Megan Wols. Thank you Katrien! Greetings! In the magazine seasons I saw a picture of an interior in a house in Sweden. I searched through Google for a sales address and I ended up at the Katrien webshop. Totally enthusiastic, I ordered 3 horses in beautiful Swedish colors. Katrien has given me very good service and is also very enthusiastic myself, and what made the contact particularly enjoyable. I also enjoyed reading her blog and I will continue to follow this! And what is also worth mentioning is that a very elderly person carves the horses out of wood. And Maud paints them beautifully.

When Katrien first presented the Holmestadhorses via her blog and Facebook page, I was immediately enthusiastic: handmade from wood, in beautiful colors and very nicely decorated. I also like Katrien's initiative to sell these horses, but also other handmade Swedish products through her shop. I finally chose this beautiful blue horse, signed by Maud. Thank you Katrien for the quick delivery and the friendly contact. Really an asset to my house, such a piece of Sweden ????
